Rimi sen was born on September, 21, 1981 and she originally belongs to Kolkata. She was named Shubhomitra Sen but she changed it for the sake of her career as the name was unusual and she thought there are many other Sens working in Bollywood, and a single name may help her stand out from the crowd and stay apart from others. She is also an Odissi dancer and performed in the dance troupe of the well-known Kolkata-based Odissi exponent, Aloka Kanungo.M
Movie Career
With a dream to become an actress, she moved to Mumbai. She was first noticed by ad director Priyadarshan during the time when she was auditioning for the Coca-Cola ad campaign. He found her role impressive and signed her for his movie Hungama (2003). This was her debut Bollywood movie which gathered much accolade and she successful in stamping her name in the industry.
Rimi then played Amitabh Bachchan's and Hema Malini's granddaughter in the hit film Baghban later that year and the movie fared well at the box office. Her next big hit was the Yashraj produced Dhoom in 2004. She experienced box office failure for some of her movies in 2005, but 2006 proved a good year for her with hit movies like Phir Hera Pheri and Golmaal and Dhoom sequel titled Dhoom 2 which was a blockbuster hit. In 2007 she appeared in the critically acclaimed Johnny Gaddaar alongside newcomer actor Neil Nitin Mukesh.
She is a fantastic actress full of talents. She does yoga every morning to maintain her ageless look and he has a fetish for a role of an avenging angel - like Urmila Matondkar in Ek Hasina Thi or Madhuri Dixit in Mrityudand, and we are sure she does not have to wait for long to quench her desire.
